Take Two Productions’ mission is to provide opportunities for individuals of all ages and races to develop their creative talents through live, musical theater and to make community connections through service to and financial support of lesser-known, well deserving charities.
Take Two Productions was established in February, 2004 for the purpose of providing opportunities for individuals of all ages and races to explore and develop their creative talents through live, musical theater and to make community connections through service to and financial support of lesser known, well-deserving charities. Take Two Productions is managed by a highly educated and professional board currently consisting of up to 13 members dedicated to operating a community theater company with sound business and financial practices. The combined business and fiscal management experience of the board is in excess of 150 years.
Take Two Productions is committed to presenting high quality productions with multi-cultural and age-diverse casts. Take Two Productions searches for productions that allow for creative casting, thus giving opportunities for many to further develop their talents and become more connected to the community. True to our mission, a recent production of Godspell, which traditionally has a younger cast, was cast with an older, multi-cultural cast. Carousel and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was cast with more children than required, thus expanding the opportunity for youth to explore their creative talents. Take Two Productions has been honored with numerous nominations from Arts for Life, a local community musical theater recognition organization.
Since its inception in 2004, Take Two Productions has given total monetary gifts in excess of $8,500 to the Bishop DuBourg High School Adopt-a-Student Program, the Bayless High School Drama Department, Project ARK, Catholic Services for Children and Youth Expectant Parent Program, Dream for a Day, Angels’ Arms, and The Maggie Welby Foundation. Take Two Productions was honored to receive a Fox Associates Charitable Foundation grant in 2007 to support our performance of Carousel, with proceeds going to Angels’ Arms, and a Target grant in 2008 to support our performance of Schoolhouse Rock Live Too! Another Fox Associates Charitable Foundation grant has been received for 2008 to support our upcoming performance of Nunsense.
Through developing community connections with local charities, Take Two Productions provides its casts and crews the opportunity to learn more about and become involved in volunteer activities supporting worthy organizations. As a result of Take Two Production’s connections with these charities, several cast and crew members have become active participants in activities that further support these organizations. In 2007, Take Two Productions organized an Angel Day in June where Take Two Productions members provided lawn care, landscaping, and maintenance services to one of the Angels’ Arms residential units. During the March, 2007, production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, attendees were given a discount on ticket prices if they provided a paper good product, which was then donated to a local charity. During this two weekend production run, Take Two Productions collected over 150 paper products to donate to the charity.
Take Two Productions...quality community theatre by the community, for the community.
